Knowing that Google is my friend I did a search and found this March 17, 1926 article. Apparently St Patty could really kick ants when he wanted to.
Not much mention of our own Al Green and some of his cronies being arrested the other day at some protest. I always though they were destined to join their Know Nothing fore bearers.

Yanno he is supposed to be some type of Tea Party anti-hero. I have listened to many of his rants and I find him as offensive as some of the people he rails against. In fact some of his suggestions border on fascism. He has said on more than one occasion that people that do not do things his way ought to be (insert Nugentism here). Ever since the Republican Party overtook the teabaggers, life hasn’t been as exciting. At one time there was some sort of philosophy, now it’s just another wing of the Republican Party. I wouldn’t be surprised if the precinct chairs were the same for teabaggers and County Republicans.

Hey y’all here is a question that should not turn into an argument.
I really am thinking about putting in a DRINKING WATER FILTER. I would love to have a whole house system but that is cost prohibitive. Any of y’all tried those reverse osmosis systems that go under the sink? My folks installed cartridge filters on their sink, i was not at all impressed with the results.
For over 10 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Tea Partiers.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to tea partiers for the insulting word choices.
And on a personal note, I welcome a return to civility and a cessation to the use of degrading monikers invoked solely to demagogue proponents of political or religious philosophies.

How does it work for getting lime and scale out of the water? We have some really hard water from the community well and it will literally lill a coffee pot in 6 months. I like the idea.
High volume is not critical Katfish. I was reading about some of the reverse osmosis systems and the biggest complaint is “recharge time”. I could escape that buying the super expensive system but hell if I did that I may as well go all the way with culligan.
#85 – I have no scientific data or means to measure – but the filtered water from this unit is YUMMY (as in tasteless and refreshing) – I used to use the pure unit that fits on the faucet – those little fixtures wind up with “squirt leaks” that were a POS & troublesome – the cannister is GREAT IMHO – heck try just ONE and see how ya like it – they come with the first 1 or 2 filters as I recall………..

I am willing to give it a try for sure. When I consider that I will have to crawl under the sink to install the other system or pay through the wazoo for any of the other systems, that little price tag and simplicity is looking well worth the try.
I just got back inside from moving a portion of Mirkwood. I made some good progress today. I collected some bugs for my sister’s chickens. I’ll be taking those plus a chef salad over there soon. Bugs for the chickens. Salad for my sister. Just in case anyone was confused.

If your sink is anywhere close to your icemaker you can route a line to the icemaker which will cause it to produce clear ice cubes. Ice cubes that are cloudy indicate crap in the water. Clear ice cubes last longer in a drink and do not alter the flavor. My system only gets serviced at about 18 month intervals which seems to work well. The coffee maker never has to be de-scaled because the water going in doesn’t produce it. I think the owner’s name is Rocky, his former partner, Bob, is one of my long time clients.

That is neat, it always interesting to see how books compare now with previous editions. For example The Book of Mormon now includes many clarifications from the edition first published in 1830. Particularly with regards to Jesus being the son of God from Mary.
I had heard of these changes, but it’s always good to see them first hand.

Did you install that thing? Cost? Do you ever have problems with recharging the system, that is do you at times have to wait for the water to catch up to use?
I have no qualms about installing the thing for myself. Unfortunately the sink is on another wall from the ice maker. i gotta put a separate filter on that thing one of these days. The little filter that is in the fridge gets overwhelmed after a week or 2 in the summer when ice use is high.
I have been reading that some of these “lowes specials” are not worth the money spent on them. So i am thinking I am gonna have to spring for either Katfish’s suggestion or upgrade the amount I want to spend.

#97 Squawk: I did not install the system, but they are not complicated. To be honest I have no idea what they cost now and I never paid cash for mine in the first place, I bartered it. I have a 3 or 4 gallon tank under the sink and I rarely drain it so the recharge time is rarely tested. I think it is a couple of hours and when the unit is first installed, you have to wait until it fully charges and then dump it, and may have to even repeat the cycle as some of the charcoal from one of the filters usually gets in the mix. I think this system filters down to the 1 micron level in a multi stage process, one is charcoal (which strips out the Cl2 and other crap) and another is fine mesh synthetic I think from there it goes through the r/o phase and then to the tank. The last time I spoke with the guy about it you can rent one and they handle installation and regular maintenance/filter changes or you can buy it outright and then buy the filter cartridges when needed and it is not frequent. I live in Glorious Copperfield and we get our water mostly from a well at the end of the street. I have taste tested the difference between the r/o water and regular tap water and the difference is dramatic. Did I mention that I never clean the coffee maker? Mine usually last 4 – 5 years and the bottom heater plate is what fails/rusts out or I wind up breaking the carafe; the primary water heater never has a problem. If your water is as hard as you indicate, you are also trashing your water heater and building up crap in your washer and dryer, not to mention your toilets and shower heads. I wish I could give more/any price info but I just don’t have it.
I have a cousin who has had to go to work since the Occu-Toddler movement went south. She sells Rainbow vacuum cleaners now, I know where you live, she’ll be there in the morning, 8:00 sharp.
BTW, she can help you out with a avacado green oven as well – to match your decor.

For whatever reasons Joseph Smith felt it necessary to change the passaged cited in order to reinforce that concept; not to change the role or position of either the Father or the Son in the Godhead.

I’ve never taken offense by you regarding the LDS faith. in fact you’ve made me laugh (which was your intent) at times over it. Websites like the one you linked are very often misleading and/or incomplete regarding Mormon beliefs and I’ve found that this is often intentional.
All religions have anti-religions associated with them. And at one time or another I’ve run across them or had someone send them to me. Sometimes they take a piece of truth and run with it at other times out and out fabrications. The site I linked to started out with differences which are easily verifiable and then attempts to ascribe reasons. Not having a dog in the fight I mentally mark the differences and return if research is needed on explanations. When I came across the 1830 BOM, it was an easy find to verify the 1 Neph 11:18 passages which were my keenest interests. Reading the remainder of passage on page 25 confirmed that the added material was indeed a clarification and not a change, hence my wording.
Belated Happy St. Patrick’s Day, when everyone can be Irish if desired.
Spouse’s brother and wife arrived safely on Thursday afternoon from Madison. The flight from Chicago was sold out and packed, but it is only a little over 2 hours in the air and so was tolerable. Weather in Madison has been a couple of degrees warmer than here for the past several days–completely unexpected. No St. Paddy’s Day week blizzard this year. The natives are in shock.
We took them to see the King Tut exhibit on Friday morning, and they enjoyed it immensely. We enjoyed it even more our second viewing. It seemed just as packed as on our first visit in November. Parking at the Fine Arts Museum, Houston was hard to find around 10:45 am, but we had discovered another lot belonging to the museum just behind another building in the complex in November and went there to find plenty of open spaces. On return afterwards, there was nothing available and cars waiting for us to leave. The huge statue of Anubis out front is still decked out in his Rodeo duds, and folks were taking pictures of that.
We’re off to the Brenham/Independence area tomorrow in search of bluebonnet viewing.

Backhacking the URL it is indeed a denominational Christian proselytizing site aimed at Mormon’s. It’s somewhat of a cottage industry among religions and denominations to poach other’s members.
Locating the The Improvement Era, December, 1961, pp. 924-925 shouldn’t be difficult, they all seem to have been e-converted, FWIW the volume # is 64. The BYU site shows vol 1 through 38 with select volumes after that. If it’s really important, I’m sure it’s available with a library call.
For academic types anything with an original, particularly in English is a straightforward exegesis, particularly with a single author. Hermeneutics then becomes the primary source of criticism and provides no end of discussion. Compare with the Bible, that has upwards of 50,000 changes depending on your definition. I’ve seen papers attributed to one comma, Comma Johanneum, whose existence or non-existence, supports the concept of Trinity.

I took my sister her food and the chicken food last night. She was in good spirits, which surprised me, but she explained she had finally had a full night’s sleep, which was helping her get through the day. We spent some time together, fed the chickens, and talked about the garden (Rocky was able to plant some seeds in some trays before he lost his ability to move about. Cathy now has some seedlings coming up – her last gift from Rocky, as it were. Rocky is “in transition” now. In one way, it’s sad to see him as he is now. Cathy said that just touching him causing excruciating pain, and even in his near constant sleep state, he fights it. The only thing good that I can say about cancer, is that by the time the end arrives, the loved ones are grateful for the release from the pain.
I went to see Act of Valor last night. Watching the SEALs in action was very cool. It’s a gory movie, but they are involved in acts of war, after all. You can tell these aren’t trained actors, but I could sense the camaraderie of the SEAL family. And when one them decided to make the ultimate sacrifice for his buddies…well, I won’t be a spoiler.
Rush explained that the film was made using a $3,000 camera. I will say, they did a fine job with that cheap a camera.

I assure you your concern is real, the challenge is now to Congress to rein in and define the powers. They did a less than stellar job under Nixon and Johnson; and Obama’s a keen student of history.
IMO, this is a pretty shrewd move by the President . Either Congress gets their act together and starts living up to their Constitutional responsibilities or there is going to be a whole lot of unhappy people come this election. The first scene that made me go “Oh, Wow!” was the scene in the river, where the platoon all came up together and then just slid back under the surface….and the hands rising up behind the lookout. I thought they were going to grab the guy and take him down, but when the sniper hit him and the hands caught him so he wouldn’t splash, I went “Oh, Wow!”

If the SEALS have you as a target, you are dead; unless they want to interrogate you. Either way, they are a serious force to be reckoned with. An interesting article in the print version of the Chronicle this morning presenting a pretty good picture of how politics really works.
For those not following this stuff, tobacco shops buy these machines that roll a carton of cigarettes, then sell the materials to the customers who provide the labor. The product is a carton of cigarettes that cost 50% of what one buys from the state licensed stores. The state also loses out on significant revenue. 25 states have passed legislation regulating this type of activity.
